Church Liaison: Take our needs and flyers to your church. Make sure upcoming events are listed in your church paper and/or bulletin. Spread the ministry of Compassion.
Clerical Support: Volunteers are needed to help with ordering materials, folding and stamping brochures, filing, shredding old files, compiling packets, making copies and helping with small mailings. The time commitment is 2 to 4 hours per week and daytime hours are most helpful.
Data Entry: Volunteers are needed to keep the database records up-to-date. Computer experience is helpful, but not required. On-the-job instruction will be given. This individual may enter information from client files into the database weekly, compile statistical information monthly or work on keeping the donor database information current.
Church Opportunities: Invite a speaker; get to know all about the ministries of Compassion. Host a diaper drive, shower or help with a baby bottle campaign.Layette and Material Goods Ministry: Help sort and/or wash donated items to the Center and pack layettes. Variable times.
Merit Program: Teach life skill classes to clients: prenatal, parenting, finance, nutrition, etc. You set the times and dates.
Office Assistant: Must be familiar with computer, data entry, thank you notes, assists in mailing, must be familiar with normal office procedures. Training required
Office Cleaning: An individual who is part of a cleaning team cleans the Center weekly. The weekly cleaning includes vacuuming, dusting, taking out trash, cleaning restrooms and straightening up counseling and volunteer rooms. Also, an individual or group is needed to do periodic heavy cleaning jobs.
On-Call ‘Handyman’ Team: The Center is not unlike your own home, it needs constant upkeep. There are many needs requiring a full range of skills from simple repair and maintenance, to more extensive construction projects. There is something for everybody on this team.
Peer Counselor: Perform one-on-one crisis intervention and ongoing peer counseling. Listen, make referrals and follow up contacts with clients, maintain accurate and confidential files, attend bi-monthly trainings. Training required
Prayer Partner: Our prayer partners pledge to pray for us regularly. All partners receive a prayer letter at the beginning of each month that includes praises and requests. All new prayer partners will receive an introductory letter and will be put on the Prayer Partner Mailing List.
Receptionist: Handle incoming calls, schedule appointments, perform phone peer counseling; greet clients, carry out daily opening/closing procedures; some typing and office responsibilities. Training required.
Registered Nurses: We are looking for R.N.'s who feel called to be trained to do limited obstetrical ultrasounds, pregnancy tests and client education. Time commitment is one 2 1/2 to 4 hour shift per week. R.N.'s are asked to raise support for the training costs and make a one-year commitment to the center. Training includes the Volunteer Training Seminar, a 3 day conference (off-site) and two-week hands on practical training. Ongoing supervision is provided for as long as needed.
